Weekend Blessings

Books read, and books waiting

a table where our own family traditions have begun

Star gazing, warm baths, and waiting up for bread to come out of the oven so that my husband and I can enjoy melted butter and honey across its warmth.
How blessed I am.

Thank you God for your great mercy.

Beginnings

The PCPC Arts Festival is just around the corner and although I have spent the summer working on my piece for the show... this is where I am. The beginning. Try as I might, my other piece just wasn't right. Since my piece is very personal to me, and I treasure the festival, I couldn't just let anything pass. My last piece had a great concept, but it never settled well with me. So hear I am, starting a new work that I feel at peace with. This is it.

Fawn at Dusk

Last week ended up being a blur! We had family come into town unexpectedly, and that seemed to take up the week. We had a blast spending time together and letting the kids run around. On the drive home from my in-laws we passed a family of dear crossing the street. There were to fawns running together and keeping a close eye on our stopped car.

I look forward to getting back to posting this week. Hope everyone is having a great Monday!

Resting Bales

I started working on this small 5" x 5" a couple of days ago. I really enjoyed painting a landscape on a small space. This image came out of my mind. I was thinking about the hay bales resting on the edge of hill during an early morning sunrise. Waking up and getting outside in the wee hours of the morning is always a wonderful blessing. However, it can be quite a feat just to get up at that time!

hay bales

Hay bales have been on my mind lately. You might remember this post. It seems that every where I go hay bales are waiting around. There is a lot of change going on around these hay bales as they sit around. The sun is setting, rain might be on its way, and the hay bales are patient.

On the way home

Just about every time I drive home I pass this barn dressed in the American flag. In the evenings the horses are always down by the road and I think to myself, "I would really like to capture that". Today was the day that I finally remembered to have my camera on hand. So now, should I ever move, I can remember the lovely drive home on summer evenings.

Treasury Fun!

This morning I woke up to find out one of my paintings, The Shell, was a part of an Etsy treasury!

Not without Annette put this treasury together. Thank you for including me!

Hope everyone is having a great weekend!

Night Swim

Here is a new koi painting that will be up in the shop shortly. Have I mentioned lately how much I enjoy painting koi?

I haven't been night swimming in years. I miss the warm summer nights, jumping into the dark water where one, perhaps two, lights are glowing inside. Swimming in the day is fun, but there is something special about jumping into the dark unknown at night. I guess it just leaves room for more imagination...

Surprise!

I was surprised and honored to find my painting, Dusk Falling, on the At First Light blog. She has a great idea of choosing words for the day and connecting that word with artwork on Etsy. Stop by her blog to check it out!

Koi at Dusk

There is a new painting up in the shop! It has taken me a little time to get it up in the shop due to a recent birth in the family. I was out of town to meet my new nephew! How precious to hold a new born baby.

Hope you have been having a good week!
