what naps look like

They sleep in their beds, resting from a morning of imagination running wild.  Firemen, Divers, Explorers and Mighty Men.  The house lays in quiet, deep breaths.

sketching it in

This is it.  The final days, moments, and hours of 2010 are upon us.  A little dramatic, but when it comes to lasts I usually am.  If you are also a mother and fond of lasts then Let Me Hold You Longer  is a book I recommend.

We have ended our year with full plates, surgeries, illness, busy schedules... but also with lots of praise, prayers, encouragement, and worship.  I have also had time to reflect on my artwork and consider the possibilities I have for this season of my life.  I prayerfully will be bringing some new work into my shop such as stationary and prints.

Have a beautiful end of 2010!

Blue Run Down

The hairs gliding over the canvas feels good.  Texture in my hands, starting fresh, starting new.  Some I know what they will be, others are still unknown to me.  I don't know when it will all get done.  I once had all the time I could ever ask for, but it felt so empty in my hands.

Stirring in the bedroom lets me know little ones will be up soon.  This too short time, so filled now.  I clean my brushes in the sink, watch the blue run down.

Little ones ready to play.  Paint drying and waiting.

What Days Hold

Morning breezes catch the curtains. My infant son delights in the tickling movement. Graceful swings entice his little hands to touch, hold, laugh.

Outside play with old faithful. He stays close, he stays near. His sweet and humble life... moments of field chases, nights of barking, savory food to eat.

The path to see family and the aged truck lingers. It's new purpose is quiet and relaxed.

In the evening the family gathers under the trees. We pass by them often. The thoughts comes to mind that God in all his greatness knows the birth date of even these. He breathes life all around me. "... the skies proclaim the work of His hands." Psalm 19:1

Weekend Blessings

Books read, and books waiting

a table where our own family traditions have begun

Star gazing, warm baths, and waiting up for bread to come out of the oven so that my husband and I can enjoy melted butter and honey across its warmth.
How blessed I am.

Thank you God for your great mercy.

Searching for Honey

This weekend my family came down with a summer cold. Being rather untimely, my youngest son is also cutting his first two teeth. Needless to say he is quite miserable. Despite all of this, his joyful personality can't help but giggle and shine. Everything is new, wonderful and exciting to him. What a sweet and simple allegory this pictures.

Painting for 2

This is a post of 2's. 2 days ago 2 people (my 2 year old and myself), painted their first picture together. I tried to step back and let him have fun all by himself but over the course of an hour he kept asking me to paint with him, so I joyfully gave in. Yes, if you go back over that last sentence I said an hour. My 2 year old son painted for over an hour on 1 painting. Usually he scribbles with crayons for about 30 seconds going through as many pieces of paper as I give him. Apparently painting is more his thing. We had so much fun working together, and I think the painting turned out rather nice.

I'm planning on hanging this in his room where he can see it and remember our fun painting that we did together. After completing the painting I immediately ordered A Child's Book of Art: Great Pictures - First Words. I've already received my shipping notification and can hardly wait to flip through it and see how he likes it.
