Here is Sing Me a Song in progress. I have been using more and more yellow in my work. The blue and bare trees seem cold in contrast to the warmth of the yellow sky and birds. Barren versus life.

January Yellow
Fish in yellow have been swimming around inside my head for quite sometime now. I am excited to be working on this piece.

Blue Run Down
The hairs gliding over the canvas feels good. Texture in my hands, starting fresh, starting new. Some I know what they will be, others are still unknown to me. I don't know when it will all get done. I once had all the time I could ever ask for, but it felt so empty in my hands.
Stirring in the bedroom lets me know little ones will be up soon. This too short time, so filled now. I clean my brushes in the sink, watch the blue run down.
Little ones ready to play. Paint drying and waiting.

Beginnings
The PCPC Arts Festival is just around the corner and although I have spent the summer working on my piece for the show... this is where I am. The beginning. Try as I might, my other piece just wasn't right. Since my piece is very personal to me, and I treasure the festival, I couldn't just let anything pass. My last piece had a great concept, but it never settled well with me. So hear I am, starting a new work that I feel at peace with. This is it.

Sneaking a Peek....
My childhood church has an Arts Festival every year that is really wonderful. I love being a part of a festival whose focus is to honor God. This is a sneak peek of a painting I have been working on for the festival. It is still in the works, but prayerfully I should have it complete in time!

Go ahead....
Take a peek at a painting that has been in the works for quite some time. I'd tell you exactly how long but I'm too embarrassed to say. This will occasionally happen with a piece of work. I just have to figure out over time, and sometimes more time, what exactly is going on with my characters/images. Have you ever heard an author talk about their characters that way before... as if the characters take on a life of their own and unfold before them? Sometimes that is how it is with paintings.
I sit back and wait to find out what the story is...who the characters are...what will be said.
But, perhaps those paintings, with their plot and character development, make for the best paintings.
